"Sunny", "Magic", and "Wiedy"

"What I have learned about hallowed places is that my altars and shrines are where horses run.

Horses know nothing of money, status, beauty or accomplishment.  Horses see only our hearts, and they accept or reject us based on what they find within.  In short, horses do naturally what humans can pass a lifetime without ever mastering."

"Sun of Dimanche+", a.k.a. "Sunny" is a 14 year old Arabian Horse Association (AHA) registered Arabian gelding. (AHA 496687) At 14.3 hands, he is not big, but he is very compact and heavily muscled. His lineage is French track racing.   "Dimanche" is French for "Sunday", so his name translates to "Sun of Sunday". He is a SAMTYR great, great, grandson.  This bloodline is noted for their blazing speed and gentle disposition.  He has earned a Arabian Horse Association Legion of Honor. "Sunny" has logged many miles of "pony rides" for kids and is a Mounted Search and Rescue Horse for the Fannin County Fire Department.

"Mahada Magic" is a 9 year old Arabian Horse Association (AHA) registered Arabian gelding.  (AHA  538041) He is half Polish and half Egyptian and was bred by Mahada Farms in Chickamauga, Georgia. (www.mahadafarms.com) Magic does a wide range of "tricks" and is a favorite with the kids.

Both "Sunny" and "Magic" are just "big dogs" around the farm and are superb mountain trail horses.  They love people, especially kids, and do numerous tricks for carrots and their favorite treat, "Apple Wafers".

Sunny and Magic are ridden in Reactor Panel Avant Garde saddles. (www.reactorpanel.com)

"Wiefear" is a 7 year old Arabian Horse Association (AHA) Sweepstakes Nominated registered Arabian gelding.  (AHA 0573802) "Wiedy" as he is called or "Sweety Wiedy" as Joan calls him is extremely affectionate and loves people.  He has a particular fondness for carrots.  He completed his ground training in spring 2006, has learned several "tricks" including "Smile" and "Gimme a Kiss" and is working on picking up my hat.

MY FRIEND
  By Joan Tipton

This day has me beaten
My soul is tattered and torn
From worries and problems
My nerves are frazzled and worn.

I head down to the barn
The sun is setting in the sky
As the moon rises up to kiss the stars
I begin to cry.

I am greeted with a nicker
His warm breath is on my skin
He looks deep into my soul
My horse, my friend.

I brush his mane and stroke his coat
My tears soon start to dry
He nudges gently on my arm,
Gives another nicker as I sigh.

My frown soon turns into a smile
My worries fade away
Thanks so much my loyal friend
You have brightened up my day.

"Look back at man's struggle for freedom, trace our present day's strength to its source,
And you will find man's pathway to glory is strewn with the bones of the horse."     _Anon

"We are Horse People because we can not experience what it is to truly run free...without the horse.
We are Horse People because we can not experience the truly selfless nature of being...without the horse.
When horses suffer, we suffer.
When horses die, a little of each of us die.
We are connected because we are Horse People.

A Final Trail awaits us all, men and horses.  When fronted together, and one leaves the other,
the meaningful ritual of Moving On keeps the other alive, forever."  _Frank Solano

"If it is in your blood to love horses, you share your life with them. Our horses know our secrets;
we braid our tears into their manes and whisper our hopes into their ears. A barn is a sanctuary
in an unsettled world, a sheltered place where life’s true priorities are clear: a warm place to sleep,
someone who loves us, and the luxury of regular meals. Some of us need these reminders."
